If you love 1980s nostalgia, you'll love this wooden sign! Featuring the lyrics of the 80s hit song "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" by Belinda Carlisle from The Go-Gos, released on her solo album in 1987! This one will take you back to the more simply days of making mix tapes for your walk-man in your neon sweatshirt and velvet scrunchie ... if you were into that sort of thing!

This wood 80s nostalgia song lyrics sign was a blast to design and make. We started with a simple real wood plaque with about a 1/4 inch frame around it. We then white-washed the plaque with a light coat of transparent white acrylic paint. From there we cut out a multi-layered design to give the sign some depth. Using shimmer light blue vinyl, we created the "wind" for our first layer. Check out the video to see how that shimmer vinyl really pops on the sign. Then we used a basic gloss dark blue vinyl for some of the lyrics for our second layer. We wanted to word "Heaven" to have a cloud-like look to it, so we cut the first layer for the word out of chipboard that had white pattern printed directly on it. It's a pretty cool material and creates that depth and shadow feel we were looking for! To finish off the word "Heaven" we added a layer of deep red shimmer vinyl to the top of the chipboard. The white pattern in the background of the red shimmer vinyl almost makes it look the word is pulsating. Totally 80s stuff right there.
